Natural Latex Contour Pillow

Natural Latex Contour Pillow

Our natural latex contour pillow is made with extra soft (20 ild) natural latex with high purity standards certified by Eco Institut. The dunlop method is used to process the natural latex, which makes it more durable and healthier than the talalay method that uses dimethyl sulfate. This pillow molds to your neck for superior comfort and support. Made in the USA.

This natural latex pillow is then covered in a removable (zip off), undyed, 100% organic knit fabric cover. This organic cover features two layers of organic cotton knit fabric (certified organic by GOTS) with a thin layer of organic cotton batting (certified by Oregon Tilth) sandwiched between.

Size:
Standard/Queen: 16 x 24: about 5" high on the high side, 3.5" in the middle and 4.25" high on the short side.

What is Natural Latex?

Natural Latex also known as Natural Rubber comes from the Rubber Tree (Hevea Brasiliensis) and it's acquired through a method called "tapping" where the latex serum is collected from the latex ducts of the Rubber Tree and then used to make Natural Latex.

Unlike synthetic man made latex, Pure Natural Latex is naturally anti-microbial and dust mite resistant; making it perfect for allergy sufferers or anyone who needs to breathe fresh, clean air while sleeping. Its breathable qualities allow it to keep cool in the summer and warm in the winter and it is one of the most naturally durable and cushioning materials available in nature, in addition to being biodegradable.

What does ild mean?

ILD stands for Indentation Load Deflection. In simple terms it is a measurement of how hard or soft a foam is. In more accurate terms it's the number of pounds of pressure required to indent 4" of foam by 25% using a 50 square inch indentation. You may also see it referred to as the 25% ILD rating.

I have heard of Latex Allergies; how can I be sure it will not affect me?

As of yet, there have NOT been any reported cases of allergies to Pure Natural Latex (or Pure Natural Rubber) and the general incidence of latex allergy is low, less than 1% of the U.S. population. People that are allergic to latex are normally allergic to the type of latex used in making latex gloves (workers who wear latex gloves most of the day have a risk of less than 10%) which is closed cell structure latex.

Care Instructions:

Latex Pillow: Latex is a sterile, hygienic product (which normally does not require washing). If the latex pillow needs washing, use a lukewarm solution of mild soap and water. Dry at room temperature away from heat and light. Never place in mechanical home dryer.
Pillow Cover: The pillow cover can be removed and machine washed but will need to hang dry to cut down on shrinkage.
